2016 Haskins Award Winner Beau Hossler and Sacramento native Cameron Champ have accepted Sponsor Invitations from Safeway to play in next week’s Safeway Open presented by Chevron, October 4-8 at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, CA. They join a host of other recent college standouts including 2016 NCAA Champion Aaron Wise from the University of Oregon and 2017 Ben Hogan Award Winner Maverick McNealy from Stanford who will be making his professional debut.
Champ turned heads as an amateur this summer at the US Open at Erin Hills when he opened with rounds of 70-69 to enter the weekend in a tie for eighth at 5-under par. Hailing from nearby Sacramento, California, Champ is no stranger to success in the Golden State. He reached rankings of number four nationally and number one in California during his junior career and is currently the 11th ranked amateur in the world.
Hossler, also a native of California, showed his potential at the 2012 U.S. Open at Olympic Club where he led during the second round at just 17 years of age. After suffering a shoulder injury that kept him out of the 2016 NCAA Championship match, Hossler has quickly returned to form posting two runner-up finishes on the Web.com Tour this summer and earning his PGA TOUR card for the 2017-2018 season.
